Today the Lord confirmed the message that the instructors at IPS have been teaching me all week. "Be truly passionate about photography, but let it spring up our of your ultimate passion for Christ!"
I'd been anticipating today's photo shoot since I'd arrived Sunday afternoon. We were taken to the Dallas Arboretum (God's beautiful creation!) and instructed to photograph portraits of people (also God's beautiful creation!).
I had my assignment, my digital film, and my newly learned skills (THANKS, IPS!) to guarantee me 96 captivating photographs. Guess what God did with that perfect setting and dream assignment? He showed me how important it is to use it for His purpose.
Long story made short... I spent most of my day ministering to a family by taking their family portrait instead of taking that one shot that would've gotten me noticed. The Lord made me a photographer today, even though no images I took may get me recognized as one.
Praise Him for having a plan beyond the picture! I would encourage you to come discover more about your own photography ministry at IPS!

Revelation. If I had to collect every life-changing experience that I encountered in this one day in one simple word, it would be thus ñ "revelation."
As each event unfurled throughout the day, I discovered something new, not only about photography, but about myself.
Through the couple's photo shoot, I realized first-hand the depth of character and personal intimacy that is evident in the truly magnificent photograph.
Through the children's workshop, a passion to capture the innocence and care-free nature of children was revealed to me.
As I watched the photographer go about her business during the bridal workshop, a spiritual parallel was drawn in my mind. I noticed how the photographer meticulously removed every single distracting element so as not to detract from the object of the picture ñ the bride. In this way, I understood that we have to remove every obstacle in our lives in order that God will not be detracted from the object of His affection, His bride.
All of the elements combine to leave just one burning memory of the entire week here at IPS ñ revelation.
