Our last day of the workshop started off with a digital information session—Rowan talked about photo storage options, online resources, and other aspects of digital imaging. There was lots of wrap-up critique today, covering our portrait sessions from Thursday and our sunset & skyline photos. At this point in the workshop, I can anticipate the critique; when I'm composing a photo, I hear Rowan and Abigail saying, "Okay, now watch where you put the horizon..."
We've had a really great mix of people in this class, and it's been hugely inspiring to see everyone's work all week. Diversity rocks. After our closing-day slideshow (lots of great photos and memories!), some of us headed for Point Loma to catch the sunset. It's exciting to see how many of us can now capture an image the way we want, instead of battling our cameras for the correct settings. As we were standing on the oceanside cliffs, a couple with an SLR asked one of the students, "Will you take our picture? We don't even know how to use this camera..." She gave them a big smile and said, "Sure, I've got this!," then she turned the camera off "automatic" mode, made a good picture, and flipped it back to auto for them. Poor folks; they need IPS in their lives...
